The 3D Creator consists of the following components:
 |
Control Unit: The 3Dcreator control unit is the heart of the system. It
both issues commands to the system and reads the data coming back from the
camera. The Control Unit contains three high speed DSP channels that
compute the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the tip of the probe, along with two
orientation vectors. This information is passed on to the host computer for
further processing. |
 |
Camera: The 3D camera sits on a tripod overlooking the measuring area. It
communicates with the hand held probe, issuing commands and tracking the
light emitted by the probe. It contains three high precision light
receivers that triangulate on the light emitted by the measuring probe. It
is approximately 800 mm long. |
 |
Measuring Probe: The measuring probe is a wireless probe whose location is
space is tracked using infrared light. It is a totally freehand device
measuring approximately 9 inches long, and weighing 9 ounces. |
|
DRF: The 3D Creator contains a DRF, or Dynamic Reference Frame. When used,
the DRF becomes the origin, or reference point, around which all data points
are measured. This allows either the camera, or the part being measured to
be moved during the measuring process, while still maintaining data
integrity. |
The 3D Creator also includes power supplies, probe charging base, the camera
tripod and a rugged carrying case. |
